A simple Instagram DM sent in 2023 has turned into a life-changing opportunity for Jamaican videographer @_paid_wayyy, who is now traveling the world while working alongside Dancehall superstar Popcaan.

The videographer recently shared screenshots of his early Instagram conversation with the Unruly Boss, showing how he took a chance and reached out directly to the international Dancehall star.

His opening message was straightforward and ambitious.

“Yo ! You want a filmer fi to role with you on them adventures? Mi woulda want to film and edit. As a st.thomas native mi just a try yk how eh go”

In the message, Paidway offered his services as a filmmaker and editor while pointing out that he was from St. Thomas, the same parish where Popcaan was born and raised.

Rather than simply asking for an opportunity, the young creative made it clear that he wanted to work alongside Popcaan and document his “adventures” around the world.

The message caught Popcaan’s attention.

Following the exchange, Popcaan asked for the videographer’s contact information and arranged for members of his team to get in touch.
