A Jamaican food business built in South East London is taking another major step into the UK supermarket market, with Flake Bake launching its first ready meals at Aldi.

The family-run company, founded by Jamaican-British father and son Paul and Mike Williams, will introduce two Jamaican-inspired dishes across Aldi stores nationwide from September 16, 2026.

Two New Jamaican-Inspired Meals

The new range gives shoppers a choice between two meals, each priced at £3.99.

  • Jerk BBQ Chicken with Rice & Peas
  • BBQ Beef with Sweet Potato Mash

The Jerk BBQ Chicken features chicken thigh in a Scotch bonnet-based sauce with flavours including thyme, pimento, garlic and ginger, served with rice and peas. The BBQ Beef option pairs beef in a rich, fruity-spiced gravy with sweet potato mash.

For Flake Bake, the move into ready meals represents an expansion of a relationship with Aldi that began with the company’s Jamaican patties.

From a Peckham Bakery to Aldi Shelves

Paul and Mike Williams gained national attention in 2024 after appearing on Channel 4’s Aldi’s Next Big Thing, where their Jamaican beef patty secured a deal with the supermarket.

The response was immediate. Aldi reported that more than 100,000 Flake Bake beef patties sold within the first 10 days of their initial launch, helping pave the way for the products to become part of its wider range.

The company later expanded its Aldi offering to include a Jamaican chicken patty, and the supermarket continues to stock both varieties alongside the new ready meals.

Flake Bake says its growth has not meant abandoning the bakery operation that helped establish the business. The company continues to operate from South East London, maintaining its connection to the community where the brand developed.

A Bigger Platform for Jamaican Food

The latest Aldi launch puts familiar Jamaican flavours into another mainstream UK food category, making dishes such as jerk chicken, rice and peas and sweet potato mash available as convenient ready meals.

Mike Williams said the family had worked to retain the Caribbean flavours associated with Flake Bake while creating meals that could be easily enjoyed at home.

The new products will be available in Aldi stores across the UK from September 16, adding another chapter to the Williams family’s journey from their Peckham bakery to supermarket shelves nationwide.
