Dancehall artiste and former dancer Ding Dong is giving back to the community that helped shape him, with a $1 million donation going towards the Nannyville Early Childhood Institution.
Nannyville holds a special significance for the entertainer, as it is the Kingston community where he was born and raised.
Ding Dong recently shared photos from the early childhood institution, where he posed with students inside a classroom alongside members of the teaching staff.
In a post on social media, the artiste expressed his appreciation to the Sagicor Foundation for making the donation possible through the Sagicor Sigma Run.
âIf ur not giving ur not living so give all u can when u can with no intentions of getting anything in return and watch how GOD pour his blessings on u,â Ding Dong wrote.
He continued by thanking the foundation for donating $1,000,000 to his community and specifically to the Nannyville Early Childhood Institution.
âMy community the teachers and student greatly appreciate this,â he added, while expressing his gratitude to the Sagicor Foundation.
Ding Dong Maintains Connection To Nannyville
The donation is another example of Ding Dong highlighting his connection to the community where he grew up.
Before becoming known internationally for his dancehall hits and energetic dance moves, Ding Dong established himself as one of Jamaicaâs most recognizable dancers and choreographers.
His career eventually expanded into music, where he became known for songs that often incorporate dance and movement into their presentation.
Despite his success in entertainment, the artiste has continued to publicly identify with his Nannyville roots.
His latest post placed the spotlight not on a performance, but on students and teachers at an institution serving young children in the community.
Sagicor Foundation Donation
The $1 million contribution was made through the Sagicor Sigma Run, an annual charity event organized by Sagicor that raises funds for health, education and community-related initiatives in Jamaica.
Ding Dong publicly thanked the Sagicor Foundation for directing the contribution to the early childhood institution in his community.
Sharing images from his visit, the entertainer also used the moment to encourage his followers to give whenever they are able to do so.
For Ding Dong, the contribution carries a personal connection because it supports an institution in the same community where he spent his formative years.
The entertainerâs message also reflects a broader theme that has featured throughout his career: using his platform to celebrate and support the community from which he emerged.
